A father has been taken into custody after a brief standoff in northwest Harris County on Monday following a family disturbance. As the incident is ongoing, details are limited.
Nonetheless, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez has stated that deputies received a call around 10:15 a.m. to W. FM 1960 and a brief chase ensued, which came to a halt at Stuebner Airline and Veterans Memorial.
The Sheriff shared preliminary information that an unidentified man caused “serious injury” to a toddler, believed to be around two years old, and was arrested at the scene. LifeFlight was called to airlift the child to a hospital.
The suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, is thought to be the toddler’s biological father. After getting into an argument with the child’s mother, he reportedly picked the toddler up from daycare.
It remains unclear what charges the father will face, but he is likely to face multiple charges, including felony charges for child endangerment.
The incident involved several law enforcement agencies, including the Houston PD and Texas DPS, but an investigation is still ongoing. This is a developing story, and further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
