Keith Chastain, a 38-year-old resident of Fresno, California, has been arrested 10 times in the last 31 days, according to authorities.
Clovis Police last arrested Chastain on Tuesday morning after receiving a call about a stolen truck that he was suspected of driving.
An observant officer located the stolen truck driving in Old Town Clovis and followed it until additional officers were in the area.
Authorities then conducted a high-risk traffic stop before taking Chastain into custody without incident.
Clovis Police noted they’ve arrested him six times and other agencies arrested him the remaining four, but did not explain why Chastain was freed after each arrest. He is currently facing 18 felonies and 15 misdemeanors from those arrests and charges include stealing six vehicles, DUI, vandalism, fraud, possession of a controlled substance, and more. Chastain is now booked at the Fresno County jail.
Cpl. Meredith Alexander of the Clovis Police Department urged the public to be aware of Chastain, as he has been in Clovis six times and is likely to be arrested again. The authorities said they have become “very familiar” with Chastain due to his repeated offenses. “Everyone should know what he looks like,” Alexander said.
According to reports, Chastain has been arrested several times for allegedly stealing cars with the intent to sell them for scrap. However, he has also been arrested for other crimes such as DUI, vandalism, and possession of controlled substances.
It is not clear why Chastain keeps getting released after each arrest, but his frequent offenses demonstrate the need for stronger and more effective intervention methods for repeat offenders. The authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity or behavior exhibited by Chastain to help curb his criminal activities.
