Tekashi 6ix9ine was reportedly assaulted by several individuals at an LA Fitness gym in Florida on Tuesday night.
The controversial rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was taken to hospital with injuries, but they were not believed to be life-threatening.
The motive for the assault remains unclear, and no arrests have been made. It is also unclear whether the attack was connected to Hernandez’s cooperation with prosecutors in a racketeering case that saw him testify against members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
Hernandez previously faced decades in prison, but his sentence was reduced to around two years for his cooperation, leading to criticism from some who branded him a “snitch.” Hernandez’s attorney has not yet commented on the incident.
