Laurence Fox has sued African man Mukhtar Ali Yassin after Yassin called him racist for posting a picture of himself in afro hair and blackface.
Laurence Fox, who has previously accused black and working-class actors of only complaining about bias in the industry after they have become established, posted the picture with the caption “Can’t wait. As someone who has recently racially transitioned, I’m glad my culture is going to be celebrated!”
Yassin responded by sharing two screenshots of a Twitter interaction between Fox and another Twitter user in which Fox wrote
“Dear Black people, stop making everything about you.” The Twitter user replied to the former actor: “F*-k off you Racist Pr**k.”
Yassin did not delete his tweet and has stood by his claims several times since his original post. Today, after revealing Fox was suing him, Yassin shared a picture of a piece of paper showing:
“Laurence Fox (Claimant) and Mukhtar Ali Yassin (Defendant)”. He captioned the image: “It’s really happening.”
It is unclear what Fox is suing Yassin for, but it is likely related to the allegations of racism. Yassin has said that he will be defending the lawsuit and that he has been offered legal representation on a “no win no fee” basis.
