Houston – The Houston Police Department is searching for multiple vehicles involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a 28-year-old woman dead early Monday morning. The incident occurred on the East Freeway in Houston, Texas.
According to reports, the woman had been traveling in a rideshare vehicle when she attempted to exit the vehicle while it was still in motion. The rideshare driver claimed that he had locked the doors to prevent her from leaving and stopped on the right shoulder of the highway when she eventually got out of the car through a window.
At that time, the woman began running on the freeway and was struck by a pickup truck on the entrance ramp. The pickup truck driver pulled over, but several other vehicles reportedly struck the woman as well before leaving the scene before police arrived.
The pickup truck driver was not found to be impaired and was questioned before being released by police. The incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run with police now searching for the vehicles that struck the woman.
