Left-wing watchdog group American Oversight filed a lawsuit against John Ratcliffe, Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard and others, claiming their use of the double encrypted app Signal violates the Presidential Records Act.

American Oversight boasts about its ‘activist litigation’ targeting Republican interests, especially the Trump Administration.

Now they’re suing Trump officials for using Signal to communicate about ‘military actions.’

It was reported on Monday that Jeffrey Goldberg, the anti-Trump editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, claimed he was accidentally added to a secure Signal group chat where top Trump administration officials discussed sensitive military operations against Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen.

According to Jeffrey Goldberg, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance were in a Signal group called “Houthi PC small group,” discussing plans to strike terrorists in Yemen.

Rather than exiting the chat group, Goldberg took screenshots and published a report in The Atlantic.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe on Tuesday blew up Jeffrey Goldberg’s claim that an undercover CIA agent was a part of the Signal chat group during a hearing before the Senate Intel Committee.

Ratcliffe also confirmed that Signal is approved for work use and that the previous administration communicated using the double-encrypted app.

John Ratcliffe testified that after he was confirmed as CIA Director, Signal was added to his computer by the CIA.

Additionally, Ratcliffe and Tulsi Gabbard confirmed that no classified information was exchanged over Signal in the chat group that included The Atlantic editor.

American Oversight filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of New York seeking a temporary restraining order

“Lawsuit filed against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, DNI Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of State and acting Archivist Marco Rubio, and the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration concerning news reports that journalist Jeffery Goldberg had been added to a Signal group chat among those containing potentially classified information about active military operations,” American Oversight announced.
