Captain America star Anthony Mackie was at the center of controversy last week when he commented that he didn’t think his character should represent America, despite being called Captain America.
Now he is back in the news for telling fans that they should not compare another character in the film to Donald Trump. Whether or not that’s a good or bad thing, he is just making things worse for himself and the film.
Someone at the studio needs to tell this guy to just stop talking. Put a clause in the contract for these actors, saying that they must avoid certain topics.
FOX News reports:
‘Captain America’ star Anthony Mackie cautions fans to not make comparisons between Trump and ‘Red Hulk’
Actor Anthony Mackie, who stars as Captain America in Marvel’s upcoming “Captain America: Brave New World,” shot down rumors that Red Hulk, the alter ego of Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford, was intended to portray President Donald Trump, in an interview with Esquire on Thursday.
When asked by Esquire whether fans would make the connection between Red Hulk and Trump, the “Captain America” star told fans to “chill the f*** out”.
“I hope, as a country, we’re tired of all the political jousting,” said Mackie. “Let’s just go to the movies and chill the f*** out. We could’ve made this mother****** yellow and it would’ve been a problem.”
It’s like he’s doubling down on a mistake. He should learn to just stop talking.
“This is why the right half of the country hates you, Hollyweird, and Disney, and the people who put together these films.”https://t.co/zoeBNaqT9B

Even though it sounds like maybe he was trying to do the right thing, this does not come off well.

The new Disney-Marvel movie has had a troubled production and isn’t looking like it’ll break even.
And man, are they grumpy about it. https://t.co/JuC9S1o4hv

The movie is probably not going to do well. It’s just further proof that actors should stay away from politics.
