Baytown, Texas is honoring a fallen member of the Baytown Police Department with an open memorial service for all to attend. The service will be held on March 21 at 3:30 p.m. at the Faith Family Church on North Main Street.
The service is for K-9 officer ‘Lenin,’ who died on March 9 after suffering a venomous snake bite while conducting training in Baytown. Baytown police have announced that the memorial is open to everyone who wishes to pay their respects to K-9 Lenin and offer encouragement to his partner, Officer Kinzie.
K-9 Lenin was more than just a police dog; he was the first Explosive Ordinance Detection K-9 dog for the Baytown police. His successes include winning the TOP Bomb Dog Award, second place for Bomb Scramble, and third place for Bomb Vehicles in Dothan, Alabama in February.
The service will conclude by 4:30 PM with final honors rendered. This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and offer their appreciation for the service and sacrifice of K-9 officer Lenin. Baytown police are grateful for the outpouring of support from the community and hope that everyone will come out to honor K-9 Lenin’s memory.
