A student has died and another has been injured in a shooting at Arlington Lamar High School in Texas.
The incident occurred in a parking lot, and police suspect it was a targeted shooting, with the shooter not intent on harming students inside the school.
The suspect, a juvenile male, is in custody and faces charges of capital murder, with other charges still pending.
The male student who was shot later died from his injuries, while the female student hit by shrapnel suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police recovered a gun, and they are urging gun owners to secure their weapons in places where children cannot access them. The school was locked down, and the students have been reunited with their parents.
Arlington Lamar HS will not have school on Tuesday, and counselors will be on campus for students who need help when school resumes on Wednesday.
