Two Houston firefighters were hospitalized after a hit-and-run collision involving an ambulance and a pickup truck, according to police reports.
The accident took place around 3 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of Parker Road and Airline Drive.
The police said that the two firefighters were on their way back to their station when a dark-colored Chevy Avalanche collided with their southbound ambulance on Airline Drive. The pickup truck was heading westbound on Parker Road when it T-boned the ambulance, leading to a severe impact.
After causing the accident, the Avalanche driver continued westbound on Parker Road, leaving behind some debris. The police noted that the vehicle likely has considerable front-end damage.
The ambulance didn’t have any patients at the time of the crash, and the firefighters reported that they had the green light. The pair of emergency responders were transported to the hospital and are currently in stable condition.
